U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP) is dedicated to preventing smuggling, ensuring proper valuation, safeguarding the country, and monitoring security threats.
When CBP identifies potential concerns with cargo, they may place a hold on a shipment to assess whether additional actions, such as a customs inspection or exam, are necessary. Based on their review, the shipment will either be released or detained for further examination.
