What is the Difference between the "Initial Prediction" and the "Real time Prediction" for my Delivery Date?
As long as you have a delivery location assigned to your shipment, the Shippabo platform will generate a Predicted Delivery Date for your shipment. This date is automatically updated based on the most recent POD arrival dates that the steamship line is publishing. The platform uses an advanced machine learning algorithm SHIPPABO FORESEE™ that considers many factors such as historic data surrounding the ports and terminals, the current ETA per the steamship line, the distance from the port to the final delivery location, and more.
However, as the shipment progresses, the ETA can be updated by the steamship line for a multitude of reasons. This is why we differentiate between an Initial Prediction and a Real Time Prediction.
The Initial Prediction is the initial delivery date that our platform has predicted for your shipment, based on the original sailing details received from the carrier.
The Real Time Prediction is the most up to date delivery date that our platform is predicting for your shipment. This date takes into account any change in ETA that the carrier has published.
The difference, if any, between these dates is what determines your shipment's Delivery Condition. Your delivery condition allows you to easily identify if a shipment is early, on time, or delayed.
