What happens after my shipment arrives to the port?
Understanding the steps your shipment undergoes after arriving at the port is crucial, as terminals offer limited free time once the container is made available. When your shipment reaches the port, it will be offloaded from the vessel and placed in a terminal container yard. At this stage, the shipment must undergo customs and freight release procedures to become available for collection by the terminal. Staying informed about these post-arrival processes helps ensure smooth coordination and timely shipments, minimizing any potential delays or additional costs.
If Shippabo is arranging drayage service for you:
We will work with our trucking team to confirm availability for delivery with your receiving team. Our trucker will make an appointment with the terminal to collect the container. If a delivery appointment is required with your receiving team, our trucker will confirm the availability for the appointment, and we will update the Shippabo platform with the scheduled delivery date. Once the delivery is confirmed, the Shippabo team will move your shipment to “Delivered” status. The confirmed delivery date will also be uploaded to the platform.
If Shippabo is not arranging drayage service for you:
We will issue the delivery order to your designated trucker, and track the availability on the terminal website. We will let your trucker know once the container is available, as well as the Last Free Day that has been established. The platform will also be updated with this information. **Your trucker will be responsible for making the appointment with the terminal to collect the container. The platform will not be updated with the confirmed delivery date unless your trucker provides Shippabo with that information.
